Nelson and Slay believe that the fan base negatively impacts players’ mental health, according to a transcript of their remarks against Philadelphia fans from the Cornersuite Podcast obtained by Eagles Nation:
“I quickly realized that I had to leave that place.” It had a negative effect on my mental state. After every play, they’re going to be on the bench, Nelson remarked. It came to a point where, while playing against the supporters, I would stop talking to them during a third down instead of the opposing team. I would return and say something like, “F— y’all n—- talkin bout.”
Slay concurred with Nelson.
During away games, players are typically more worried about how to handle opposition crowds. Eagles supporters also don’t seem to appreciate their team’s home games.
Even prior to their losing run, Eagles players were miserable in the 2023 regular season. It’s not hard to understand why.
