Former Boston College Coach Hired by the Packers to Serve as Defensive Coordinator

The hiring of a new defensive coordinator was done in less than a week. Following the departure of previous defensive coordinator Joe Barry on January 24, there was a great deal of conjecture over his replacement. Several prominent applicants were interviewed by the Packers, including Dennard Wilson, the defensive backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens. Therefore, some people might have been taken aback when the Packers revealed on January 31 that they had hired a new defensive coordinator.

Jeff Hafley, a former Boston College Eagles head coach, was hired by the Packers. Hafley, 44, has more than 20 years of experience coaching football. In 2001, he was hired as the Division III Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s running backs coach, which was his first coaching position.
