Alabama super star is suspended today after facing…

In Saturday’s thrilling 92-88 victory over Arkansas in the regular-season finale, Alabama avoided a

third straight defeat when guard Latrell Wrighsell Jr. made a three-pointer with 22 seconds left to tie the game and guarantee a top-four seed in the SEC tournament.

The Razorbacks, who had led by as many as 15 points throughout the game prior to Alabama’s last-minute heroics, were defeated by the Tide after they scored on each possession in overtime.

If Alabama had lost, depending on the outcomes of the other SEC games on Saturday, it could have potentially lost a top-four seed and a double-bye the following week in Nashville. Alabama will instead have to wait until Friday at Bridgestone Arena for the quarterfinals. On Saturday night, the conference will reveal the entire bracket.

After Tennessee (14-3), Alabama (13-5) is presently ranked second in the SEC, ahead of Auburn (12-5), South Carolina (12-5) and Kentucky (12-5). Even if Alabama and those three teams end up in a four-way tie for second place, it will have a higher winning percentage (2-2) in group games (.500) than South Carolina (1-2, or.333).

Alabama was offensively careless and defensively vulnerable for the majority of the first half on senior day at Coleman Coliseum. The team fell behind by double digits before Arkansas increased its lead to 15 points with six minutes to go before halftime. However, Alabama started to calm down and reduced the gap to six points at the half. They managed to keep it in single digits for nearly the entire second half.

With 2:44 left in regulation, Arkansas was ahead by seven points. However, with 22 seconds remaining, the game was knotted for the first time thanks to three points from Wrightsell, Grant Nelson, and Wrightsell once more. Alabama forced overtime with a defensive stand, then in the additional five minutes, they shot 7 of 9 and scored 18 points to seal the victory.
