The Washington Commanders’ inaugural season under Josh Harris’ ownership wasn’t very memorable.

The problem is, if the team chooses to start quarterback Drake Maye in the upcoming draft, they have an opportunity to make things right.

The departure of defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeyer early in the season left the Commanders in a mess the year before. As a result, Washington struggled throughout the course of the months, particularly following a devastating eight-game losing streak.

At the beginning of 2024, Harris fired head coach Ron Rivera due to the team’s dismal record. With a 4-13 record, the Commanders finished the season at the bottom of the NFC East. The team’s inability to make the playoffs caused them to currently own the longest current streak in the NFL without a postseason victory.

The Commanders are now in a favorable position throughout the offseason because to all of these considerations. With a top draft pick and the most cap room in the league, Washington can significantly bolster its squad for the next year.
