“Exporting serves as a vital economic pillar that bolsters Alabama’s growth, encouraging fresh investment and domestic job creation,” Governor Kay Ivey stated. “Our exporters’ unprecedented success reflects the high level of demand for our domestic products while expanding the reach of the ‘Made in Alabama’ brand.”

Alabama’s exports have increased 43% since the pandemic-related suspension of foreign trade. The rise in automobile, aerospace, and mineral exports as well as the export of metals and minerals to other countries demonstrated Alabama’s $20 billion export surge.

Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce Ellen McNair stated, “This second consecutive record year for exports really highlights the facts that companies across Alabama continue to provide top-quality goods and services that are sought by customers worldwide.” “In the future, there is room for increased export growth, and we are actively looking into new and expanding markets for businesses in Alabama.”

In 2023, Alabama sold goods to 190 countries, with Germany, Canada, China, Mexico, and South Korea being some of the most lucrative destinations.

Director of the Commerce Department’s Office of International Trade Christina Stimpson remarked, “It’s really rewarding to see the hard work of our Alabama companies.”
