Indiana Fever Player Released by Valkyries Receives a One-Word Message from Kate Martin The WNBA is essentially a business, and since companies can be ruthless, difficult choices must be made.

‎These choices are frequently forced by the WNBA’s limited roster space, which results in teams making tough cuts and waiving or releasing players who still have an opportunity to contribute to the team.

‎The Golden State Valkyries have had to make these difficult choices more than any other team. The Valkyries have been changing their roster almost constantly and have waived a dozen players in their first season.

‎Some of those ex-Valkyries have prospered in new places. Chloe Bibby, the current guard for the Indiana Fever, has been one of them.

‎It is evident that there is love between the current team and those who have moved on, even though Golden State had to let go of a lot of players in 2025.

‎On August 11, Bibby shared a set of photos on Instagram, and some of his old teammates ended up in the comments. Kate Martin, a Valkyries guard, praised Bibby in a single word in a comment after they patrolled Ballhalla’s backcourts together.

‎”Baller,” Martin said. Another guard for Golden State, Kaitlin Chen, wrote, “hi Chloe miss u.”

‎On June 30, the Valkyries waived Bibby. She has averaged 3.4 points, 1.1 rebounds, 0.6 steals, and 0.6 assists per game in her seven appearances with the Fever. Bibby has been given more responsibility because teammate Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been dealing with ailments this season. On August 9, he played 21 minutes for the Fever against the Chicago Sky.

‎Calls for the WNBA to expand its rosters As previously mentioned, many WNBA teams are experiencing roster constraints. This has led to calls for bigger rosters, with Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase leading the fight.

‎”Chloe [Bibby] is picked up by Indiana, Steph [Talbot] NY, and Mimi [Migna Touré] Connecticut; am I a proud parent, many of my players from training camp landed a job?” “Hell yeah,” Nakase stated last week, via ClutchPoints’ Kenzo Fukuda. “I’ve said this at practically every press conference: we need extra roster spaces. “These girls deserve roster spots.”

‎Bibby has publicly expressed gratitude for her brief stay in California. “I had a great time at Golden State,” Bibby stated (via Tony East). “It’s exciting to be back in the W and have another crack.” I’m happy for this opportunity with the Fever and simply excited.”
