It’s interesting to note that when the Heat played his old team in the preseason, Rozier had a change of heart. In a media interview, the seasoned playmaker spoke about how the Hornets players have adopted a different mindset and absorbed what the upper management has taught them.

What then gave him a favorable impression of Charlotte? He thinks it’s mostly the fault of the current owners and, maybe, the team management because “they have a mindset aligned with the new owners and everything.”

After Michael Jordan’s departure in the summer of 2023, Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall became the team’s majority owners. Rozier had a brief interaction with this set of owners. But his time with the Hornets did not align with the current team architect, executive vice president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson, who joined more than a month after being traded to the Heat.

Peterson has been actively involved in fostering a winning culture in Charlotte, as has recently hired coach Charles Lee. They have given the team a clear direction, which should increase the team’s chances of making the playoffs in the upcoming seasons. Although the victories would not materialize right away, it’s likely that the current Hornets players would suddenly perceive defeat with resentment.
