As she departs Indiana Fever, Aerial Powers says an emotional goodbye.

With an emotional farewell message that touched both teammates and fans, veteran guard Aerial Powers has officially concluded her brief but meaningful time with the Indiana Fever. Powers signed a seven-day hardship contract with the team on August 23, 2025. This brief agreement was made during a wave of injuries to important Fever players, such as Kristy Wallace, Temi Fagbenle, and Lexie Hull.

‎The chance to play in the WNBA again wasn’t just about covering a roster void for Powers, who has long been recognized for her fiery energy and competitive drive; it was a time of renewal. She took advantage of her opportunity in Indiana and made it matter after a period of time without a consistent position in the league. Powers provided the young Fever team with the kind of seasoned leadership and intensity they needed during a difficult midseason stretch from the first second she took the court.

‎In her final post, Powers wrote, “Indiana reminded me why I fell in love with this game.” “I’m appreciative of the supporters, my teammates, and the entire team for making me feel like I’ve been here the entire time. Despite its briefness, this chapter had a deeper meaning than words can express. It was a sincere and poignant message that encapsulated the significance of the experience for her. Powers only played in a few games, but his influence was felt right away. She instilled positivity and grit in the locker room, provided leadership to rookies like Caitlin Clark, and added toughness to the backcourt.

‎The 31-year-old veteran, who was once a standout for the Minnesota Lynx and Washington Mystics, has experienced almost every scenario the WNBA can throw at a player, including trades, injuries, championship runs, and now midseason comebacks. Even though her brief tenure with Indiana didn’t change any records, it had an impact on a team that is still developing and growing around a bright young core.

‎Christie Sides, the head coach of the Fever, commended Powers for her influence and professionalism. Sides remarked, “Aerial came in and did exactly what we needed—she gave us veteran steadiness in a time of chaos, she encouraged us, and she competed.” “She is a part of our story this season, even though it was brief.”

‎Supporters were also quick to express their affection for Powers. Many people expressed their gratitude on social media for her leadership and passion during a pivotal period of the schedule. Powers has always shown her emotions both on and off the court, so it should come as no surprise. Her path has been one of sincerity and tenacity. Powers, a former standout player for Michigan State, has never hesitated to express her opinions or to be herself. She has consistently remained loyal to herself, whether she is illuminating the scoreboard, coaching up-and-coming athletes, or using her position to promote social change.

‎Powers hasn’t revealed her next move yet, but considering her skill set and motivation, it’s safe to assume that this won’t be the last time we see her, whether it be in the WNBA, abroad, or in a coaching or media capacity.

‎However, for the time being, her farewell to Indiana seems like a fitting break in a career that has been filled with resilient chapters. Even though she didn’t play for the Fever for very long, her influence as a player and a person will last long after she leaves. The briefest stays can sometimes make the biggest impressions. And this one obviously did for Aerial Powers.
