King Crimson Set to Release First Studio Album in Over 20 Years — ‘Timelines’ Coming This Fall

Legendary progressive rock band King Crimson has stunned fans around the globe with the announcement of a brand new studio album titled “Timelines,” set for release this fall. This marks the band’s first studio project in over two decades, following 2003’s The Power to Believe. The news was confirmed in a statement by founding member and guitarist Robert Fripp, who described the album as “a reflection on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we could have gone.”

The announcement was made via the band’s official social media platforms and website, igniting waves of excitement among progressive rock enthusiasts. The upcoming album promises to fuse the experimental spirit of their early work with the refined complexity of their more recent live performances. Fripp emphasized that “Timelines” is not just a return, but an evolution — an ambitious sonic journey through Crimson’s rich history, filtered through a modern lens.

Though full details remain under wraps, sources close to the band have hinted at the participation of several past members in addition to the current touring lineup, making this potentially one of the most collaborative King Crimson efforts to date. Longtime fans are particularly excited about possible contributions from Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Jakko Jakszyk, and even Bill Bruford, who retired from live performance years ago but is rumored to have added percussive textures in the studio.

The album reportedly features 10 new tracks, ranging from sprawling, multi-movement epics to compact, experimental soundscapes. Titles such as “The Spiral Architect,” “Legacy Fragments,” and “The Eighth Court” have been teased in early press materials.

King Crimson also plans to embark on a limited world tour in support of Timelines, with dates expected to be announced later this summer. Given the band’s revered status and the rarity of new material, tickets are expected to sell out quickly.

As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: King Crimson isn’t just back — they’re rewriting their own history. And with Timelines, they aim to remind the world why they remain one of the most influential and unpredictable forces in

rock music.
