Chris Adler Rumored to Return as Guest Drummer on New Megadeth Record

In a twist that has sparked excitement across the metal world, former Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler is rumored to be making a return to the studio with Megadeth as a guest drummer on the band’s forthcoming record. While no official confirmation has come from either party, several industry insiders and fan communities are abuzz with speculation following a series of cryptic social media hints.

Adler, known for his technical precision and aggressive playing style, previously collaborated with Megadeth on their critically acclaimed 2016 album Dystopia — a release that not only earned the band their first-ever Grammy Award, but also reignited their creative fire. His contributions to the album, though limited to the studio, were widely praised by fans and critics alike for bringing a fresh and explosive energy to Megadeth’s sound.

The rumors began swirling after Dave Mustaine posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the studio on Instagram with the caption: “Old friends, old fire. Can you guess who’s back behind the kit?” While the image didn’t reveal any faces, fans were quick to point out that the visible tattoos and drum setup closely resemble Adler’s. Adding further fuel, Adler posted a drum clip with the caption: “Big things coming. Not done yet.”

Though Adler left Lamb of God in 2019 and has largely remained under the radar, his brief tenure with Megadeth left a significant impact. His precision and groove-driven thrash style meshed remarkably well with Mustaine’s razor-sharp riffing. A return, even as a guest contributor, could bring another creative surge to the band’s new material.

The upcoming Megadeth album is already surrounded by high expectations, especially with whispers of it being a conceptual follow-up to Rust in Peace. The potential addition of Adler only heightens the anticipation.

Whether this is a one-off guest spot or a broader collaboration remains to be seen, but one thing is certain — if Chris Adler is back behind the drums for Megadeth, fans can expect nothing short of a sonic assault.

Stay tuned as more details emerge from the Megadeth camp.
