Forest Ownership Greenlights £100M War Chest – Five Top Targets Identified Including World Cup Winner!
Ambitious summer rebuild begins as Tricky Trees aim for European football

Nottingham Forest have taken a bold step forward in their quest to become a mainstay in the upper half of the Premier League by authorising a £100 million summer transfer budget, with five top targets already identified — including a World Cup-winning midfielder.

The massive financial backing comes on the heels of Forest’s most promising Premier League campaign in recent memory, where under Nuno Espírito Santo they surged to a 7th-place finish and secured European qualification for the first time since the 1990s. Club owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to be “fully committed to building a squad capable of challenging for trophies,” according to sources close to the City Ground.

Forest’s recruitment team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to finalize a shortlist of top targets. Leading the list is a World Cup-winning midfielder, currently playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues. While the player’s name remains under wraps, speculation points to a French international who has fallen slightly out of favour at his current club but remains a powerhouse performer on the big stage.

Other high-priority targets include:

  • A versatile Premier League winger with double-digit goal contributions last season

  • A Championship sensation striker who netted 25+ goals in 2024–25

  • A Serie A centre-back, known for his aggressive style and aerial dominance

  • A La Liga full-back, admired for his pace and creativity in the final third

Negotiations are already underway, with two deals said to be at an advanced stage. Club officials are targeting early signings to give Nuno a full pre-season with his new-look squad.

The spending spree will not be reckless, however. Forest are also planning to offload several fringe players to help balance the wage bill and remain within Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Players such as Jonjo Shelvey, Emmanuel Dennis, and Hwang Ui-jo are among those likely to leave.

This strategic investment signals a new era of ambition at Nottingham Forest. With European nights returning to the City Ground and a war chest to reshape the squad, fans have every reason to believe that something special is brewing in the red half of Nottingham.
