Ghost’s Music to Be Adapted into Broadway Rock Opera—‘Call Me Little Sunshine’ Takes Center Stage

New York City – June 26, 2025 — In a groundbreaking fusion of theatrical spectacle and heavy metal mystique, Swedish rock titans Ghost have announced that their hauntingly iconic music will be adapted into a Broadway rock opera, with the band’s beloved single “Call Me Little Sunshine” as its emotional and thematic centerpiece.

Tentatively titled “Little Sunshine: A Ghost Opera,” the production promises to deliver an immersive experience that blends the grandeur of Broadway with the occult theatrics that have defined Ghost’s cult status. The announcement came via a press release from Tobias Forge, the mastermind behind Ghost and its enigmatic succession of “Papa Emeritus” personas.

Forge revealed that the story will revolve around a troubled soul who, seduced by promises of power and enlightenment, enters a Faustian pact with a shadowy figure known only as “The Sunshine.” Through this character’s descent into spiritual conflict and existential questioning, the opera will explore themes of faith, temptation, rebellion, and redemption—all through Ghost’s music catalogue, including tracks like “Cirice,” “Rats,” “He Is,” and “Dance Macabre.”

The production is being developed in collaboration with Tony Award-winning director Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Beetlejuice), with choreography by Sonya Tayeh and set design by Es Devlin. Previews are slated to begin in early 2026 at New York’s legendary Lyric Theatre, with a full cast and ticket information expected by the end of the year.

“We’ve always blurred the lines between music and performance art,” Forge said in a statement. “Now, to see our songs take life on a Broadway stage is both surreal and thrilling. This is Ghost like you’ve never seen before.”

Fans have already begun flooding social media with anticipation, with hashtags like #GhostOnBroadway and #LittleSunshineMusical trending globally.

If all goes according to plan, “Little Sunshine” could become one of the boldest rock-to-Broadway adaptations since Tommy—and further cement Ghost’s legacy as theatrical rock’s modern prophets.
