Rust in Peace Redux: Megadeth Announces Full Album Anniversary Tour with Original Lineup Surprise

In a move that has shocked and electrified the metal community, Megadeth has officially announced the “Rust in Peace Redux” Anniversary Tour, a global celebration of their iconic 1990 album Rust in Peace. The real jaw-dropper? The band is reuniting the original lineup from the album’s recording era, including legendary guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza’s parts being honored in a special tribute, featuring archived recordings and live holographic visuals for select performances.
The tour announcement came via a dramatic video posted to Megadeth’s official social media channels, showing vintage studio footage, interviews from the early ’90s, and a bombshell clip of Dave Mustaine standing alongside Marty Friedman, officially confirming Friedman’s return to the stage for the tour.
“This isn’t just a tour—it’s a resurrection,” Mustaine said in a press statement. “Rust in Peace was a defining moment, not just for us, but for the entire thrash metal genre. We’re giving fans a chance to experience it the way it was meant to be heard—loud, raw, and with the fire we had back in ’90.”
The tour is set to kick off in Los Angeles this September, hitting over 40 cities worldwide, including stops in Tokyo, Berlin, São Paulo, London, and Sydney. Each performance will feature a full live rendition of Rust in Peace from front to back, along with a second set featuring Megadeth classics and deep cuts spanning their 40-year career.
A particularly emotional note is the tour’s tribute to Nick Menza, who passed away in 2016. Select shows will include synchronized visuals of Menza’s past performances, allowing fans to experience his drumming legacy one more time.
