NHL Trade Buzz: Maple Leafs’ Nick Robertson
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is once again at the center of trade rumors, as several NHL teams express interest in acquiring the talented but inconsistent winger. Once viewed as a cornerstone prospect in Toronto’s rebuild, Robertson has struggled to maintain a consistent presence in the lineup, prompting speculation that a fresh start elsewhere may be imminent.
Now in the 2024–25 season, the 22-year-old has recorded 11 goals and 6 assists through 53 games. While those numbers are solid, they haven’t been enough to guarantee him a long-term role with the Leafs. After voicing his frustration with limited opportunities last summer and formally requesting a trade, Robertson stayed in Toronto — but trade talks have continued to swirl.
Several teams are believed to be keeping tabs on the situation. The Boston Bruins have been most strongly linked to a potential deal, reportedly offering Morgan Geekie and a fifth-round pick in the 2025 draft in exchange for Robertson. Geekie, a dependable center with size and experience, would bring immediate depth to Toronto’s roster, while Robertson would offer Boston a young forward with untapped offensive potential.
Another team in the mix is the Dallas Stars, where Robertson could reunite with his older brother, Jason. A potential deal could see the Leafs receive prospects like Christian Kyrou or Tristan Bertucci. This possibility has gained attention among fans due to the family connection and Dallas’ track record of developing young talent.
The Seattle Kraken are also rumored to be interested, possibly offering a seasoned forward like Yanni Gourde. Meanwhile, the Colorado Avalanche, who are dealing with multiple injuries, could view Robertson as a solution to their need for scoring depth. Additionally, the Columbus Blue Jackets have emerged as a possible trade partner, with veteran Boone Jenner speculated as a potential return piece.

Although no move has been finalized, Robertson’s situation is being closely monitored around the league. Whether the Maple Leafs decide to move on from the young winger or hold onto him in hopes of a breakout remains one of the key questions leading up to the trade deadline.
