Nightwish Signals New Era with Yesterwynde, Floor Jansen Embarks on Solo Tour in 2025
Finnish symphonic metal giants Nightwish have entered a new chapter in their storied career with the release of their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Yesterwynde, and a newly signed multi-album deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Despite announcing a hiatus from touring, the band has reaffirmed its dedication to continuing its musical journey, focusing on studio work and future projects.
Yesterwynde, released on September 20, 2024, marks Nightwish’s first full-length studio album without longtime bassist and vocalist Marko Hietala, who departed in 2021. It is also their first without orchestral collaborator Pip Williams. Produced by band leader Tuomas Holopainen, the album blends the group’s trademark symphonic metal with progressive and gothic metal influences. Acclaimed singles such as “Perfume of the Timeless” and “An Ocean of Strange Islands” have garnered widespread praise from fans and critics alike, with music videos and lyric videos enhancing the immersive experience.
Though the band has made it clear that no live tour will accompany the album, this is not a farewell. In an official statement, drummer Kai Hahto emphasized that the break from live performances is a proactive decision intended to preserve the band’s well-being and creative longevity. The group has not ruled out future tours but is currently prioritizing artistic development and recording.
Meanwhile, frontwoman Floor Jansen is keeping the flame alive on stage. The celebrated vocalist has launched her solo career in earnest, with a new album scheduled for 2025 and an extensive world tour planned. Her setlists are expected to blend new solo material with a selection of Nightwish classics, offering fans a unique chance to reconnect with the band’s iconic sound live.
As Nightwish explores fresh creative territory and Jansen expands her solo repertoire, fans are encouraged to stay tuned through official platforms. For ongoing updates, visit www.nightwish.com.
