Good News About Georgia Football's Desired Star Running Back
A four-star running back from Fairburn, Georgia, has not yet been invited to the Georgia Bulldogs for an official visit. The Bulldogs are still among the running back’s top five teams, though. Four-star running back Carsyn Baker revealed his top five schools on April 3, according to Jeremy Johnson of On3. Along with the Clemson Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Florida State Seminoles, the Bulldogs were among Baker’s top five picks. In May and June, Baker has official visits planned with Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Clemson. According to Johnson, Clemson is the favorite according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. That being said, the Bulldogs are still in the running.

Due of Baker’s multiple unauthorized trips to Athens, Georgia, the Bulldogs are still involved. “Despite not having a scheduled official visit, Georgia still plays a part in Baker’s recruitment. Actually, Baker will return to Athens on Saturday for an informal visit,” Johnson stated. Additionally, he has already visited the school three times this year. The culture of Georgia keeps Baker returning.
Johnson was given an explanation by Baker as to why he has made several trips to the Bulldogs. “It’s just the brotherhood and the way coach [Josh] Crawford and coach Smart have been recruiting me [that keep them in it],” Baker stated. Baker is ranked as the 14th best running back in the 2026 recruiting class by the 247 Sports composite rankings. Baker is regarded as the class’s No. 175 overall recruit and No. 23 Georgia prospect according to the same rankings.
A rising quarterback competition is hinted to by Kirby Smart.
The majority of Georgia football supporters believe that Gunner Stockton will start at quarterback in the fall. Stockton is expected to have a stronger season than Carson Beck’s at Georgia in 2024, according to some predictions.
Although there is a chance that Stockton will outperform Beck, that is unlikely until he defeats Ryan Puglisi in the quarterback competition this offseason.
Stockton has a distinct advantage over Puglisi now that spring ball has begun, especially because he was Beck’s backup the previous season. However, depending on how both quarterbacks perform in the spring and offseason, things may quickly change.

Furthermore, Kirby Smart recently said that Puglisi may have a better chance of starting than most supporters think.
Smart said, “Yeah, both those guys are doing a great job,” according to 247sports.com. “I’m quite happy with where they’re both at. Ryan is practicing with the ones. Gunner keeps improving and growing. Both of those guys are doing a fantastic job, in my opinion.
With the starters, Ryan Puglisi is receiving some playing time.
According to Smart’s statement above, Puglisi is practicing some offensive drills with the other starters. This is crucial because, in Smart’s opinion, he has a genuine chance of getting the starting position.
Stockton would be receiving every single rep with the ones if he had already won the job, but that is not the situation at this time of year in the spring.
It’s unlikely that Smart will make an announcement soon on the starting quarterback for the 2025 season opener. It’s possible that Georgia fans won’t find out until the offense plays for the first time this autumn. However, that might not be such a bad thing because the final result will be better the more competition there is on the roster over the offseason.
