Josh Allen Responds to Free Agent Departures After Bills’ Major Super Bowl MVP Signing
When the Buffalo Bills signed Von Miller to a massive six-year, $120 million contract, they believed he was the missing piece to push them over the top. However, things didn’t unfold as expected. Over three seasons, Miller recorded just 14 sacks and couldn’t help Buffalo get past the Kansas City Chiefs or reach the conference championship. Now, the Bills have decided to move on, releasing Miller and bringing in his successor.
That successor? Joey Bosa. While he’s no longer the dominant force he was when the Chargers drafted him third overall, his 72 sacks over nine seasons show he can still make an impact—when healthy. And that remains the biggest challenge.
“I feel like I’ve been letting my team down by missing these games,” Bosa admitted last season. “Letting everybody down—coaches, the organization, myself. It just sucks how these last few years have gone.”
Now 29, Bosa hasn’t recorded double-digit sacks since 2021, but the Bills believe they can maximize his effectiveness by managing his workload. Pairing him with AJ Epenesa and Greg Rousseau should help keep him fresh for the most critical moments of the season. If he stays healthy and delivers in key situations, he could be the ideal replacement for Miller.

The Bills’ 2025 offseason has been full of major moves—big contract extensions, key free-agent signings, and difficult departures. One of the most significant losses? Wide receiver Mack Hollins, a locker room and fan favorite, who just signed a two-year, $9 million deal with the New England Patriots. And Josh Allen isn’t thrilled about it.

“Super sad to see Mack go,” Allen said Wednesday. “I know he was a fan favorite and a favorite in the locker room. I’m really happy for him and what he got, but hate that he’s now a division rival. That’s just the business.”
Hollins only spent one season in Buffalo, but he made an impact, playing in every game and recording 31 catches for 378 yards and five touchdowns. His departure became inevitable once the Bills signed Joshua Palmer in free agency. Palmer will now team up with Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir as Buffalo’s primary receiving trio for the 2025 season.
For Hollins, joining the Patriots presents an opportunity for a bigger role. But for the Bills—and especially Allen—watching him sign with a division rival makes the loss even tougher.
