Less than a month separates JJ Redick, the new head coach of the Lakers, from the start of his NBA training camp and preseason as a head coach on a team led by two elite players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who spent the summer competing for Gold at the Paris Olympics. Redick believes that James and Davis won’t have any trouble getting going in preseason after representing Team USA this summer.

Redick stated on the Spectrum Network Lakeshow Podcast that he expects both players to be ready to play when the season begins and isn’t concerned about their offseason workload coming into the season.

“Those guys are true pros in every way,” the speaker said. I am not concerned about whether they will be in good enough shape and ready to play on October 22.”

“We will work with both Mike and Ish to ensure that they feel well-prepared for the start of the regular season. They will undoubtedly participate in games, training camp, and the preseason even here in September.”

During the Olympics in Paris, LeBron and Davis were two of Team USA’s main players. Davis was one of the top defenders in the tournament, even though James was the team’s de facto point guard and the leader in assists. While James was driving the show whenever he received minutes, Davis was an integral part of the USA’s second squad.

Although it’s not ideal to have two injury-prone players who don’t use the entire offseason to prepare for the upcoming campaign, the Lakers were powerless to prevent either one from playing for their country.

Redick, who was once a player, is aware of that, but he also recognizes that James and Davis are still professionals and must be prepared for Lakers training camp from the start.

Anthony Davis Knows Los Angeles Will Win Another Championship

The Lakers have underachieved over the past three years, even with mostly healthy seasons from James and Davis. The team’s stars have voiced their displeasure with the roster and coaching, and Davis has laid out exactly what he and LeBron must do to ensure that the Lakers win another championship.

The ultimate goal is still to win championships. You cannot skip any steps. First things first, we’re going to hold guys accountable. We will be at work, and we will hold people accountable if something goes wrong. We’ll sort things out together after that.

Davis was without a doubt the Lakers’ top player for the most of the previous year, averaging 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. His versatility in attack has increased, and his impact on defense is virtually unrivaled.

James showed last season that, at this time in his career, playing point guard is the best position for him, averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists. The Lakers need to acquire another wing player and move off a guard in order to maintain the rotation. They also need another big man, because the fight to get out of the West is becoming increasingly difficult.

Player Rejects Lakers’ Offer of Training Camp to Join Panathinaikos

Cedi Osman wouldn’t jump at the chance to be invited to the Lakers training camp as many other players would.

Over the summer, the Lakers have developed a reputation—not always a positive one—after passing over players like DeMar DeRozan, Klay Thompson, and Dejounte Murray.

Osman apparently decided to sign with Panathinaikos instead of the Lakers after talking about a possible deal with both teams, according to Nikola Miloradovic of Eurohoops.

The Turkish international was in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid, according to sources close to Eurohoops, but he was unable to reach a deal with the dominant Spanish team, Miloradovic added. “The Los Angeles Lakers expressed interest in him as well and invited him to a training camp; however, he chose to decline and return to Europe because there were no assurances that he would be included on the season roster.”

The forward, who played a supporting role for the Cavaliers for the previous six seasons, said it was not difficult to decide to sign with the Greek superpower.

According to Osman, via Eurohoops, “it was a long process, but, obviously, it was an easy choice for me.” “I’ve known Panathinaikos for a very long time.” I used to play against them. I also had Ergin [Ataman] as my coach when I was younger. Although there were connections to other teams, I didn’t have much trouble making my decision.

Osman has buried more than 57% of his twos and 37% of his threes over the last three seasons.

Duncan Robinson, Corey Kispert, Trey Murphy, Sam Hauser, Al Horford, Michael Porter Jr., and Kevin Durant are the only seven players in the league who fall into this group despite having made as many threes as Osman (330).
