Breaking: With Signing of Jobe Bellingham in Summer Overhaul Palace Want to Make a Statement of Jobe Bellingham in Summer Overhaul

Crystal Palace are stepping up their bid to sign Sunderland’s highly rated teenager Jobe Bellingham, with sources close to the club describing the 15-year-old as a “dream target” for Oliver Glasner’s new-look side. The 19-year-old midfielder is making big waves in the Championship and it’s no surprise Palace are now stepping up their interest.

Contact has already been made between the two clubs, per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano — early days, but the Eagles look serious. And why wouldn’t they be? Bellingham is no longer just Jude’s diminutive brother. On Wearside, however, he has made a name for himself, playing with a maturity beyond his years. Technically adept, industrious and willing to take a chance — he fits all the criteria for a midfield player of that is on Glasner’s wish list.

Palace fans, understandably, are buzzing. A Premier League team actually being given a chance of signing one of England’s most exciting young talents does not come around every day. In Michael Olise and, potentially, Eberechi Eze, the future is uncertain and a signing like Jobe would feel like a smart investment – a statement of intent.

It also says a lot about the direction of the club. With Glasner, Palace are no longer trying to survive. They’re building. They’re planning. And signing a player like Bellingham — who could potentially add up to a decade or more of service as a central figure — aligns perfectly with that long-term vision.

It’s anything but a done deal, though. Sunderland won’t sell him cheap. But if Palace can seal this, it could be one of the most cunning pieces of business of the summer.
