In the SEC, Georgia football is the best. The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Texas Longhorns in a thrilling 22-19 overtime match at the SEC Championship game in Atlanta on Saturday, extending their winning streak to four games. For the first time since 2020, Georgia dropped two games during the regular season this year, but they managed to rally back to contend for the SEC championship and secure their third College Football Playoff appearance in four years. Even Kirby Smart’s team was unable to evade the transfer portal in the age of player empowerment and NIL, despite the Bulldogs’ achievements.
Georgia has had four players enter the transfer portal, or at least they had, as they punched their ticket to their fourth College Football Playoff. Freshman wide receiver Nitro Tuggle decided to remain with the team on Tuesday after announcing his plans to use the transfer portal on Monday. Georgia football supporters were ecstatic when Tuggle, a former four-star prospect who saw some playing time as a true freshman, decided to withdraw his transfer request.
Georgia football fans are ecstatic about the freshman wide receiver’s return.
Georgia football is susceptible to the transfer portal even if they will compete for a national championship in 2024. On Tuesday, safety David Daniel-Sisavanh, cornerback Julian Humphrey, and wide receiver Michael Jackson III will all head for the transfer portal. Nitro Tuggle, a pass-catcher who was originally scheduled to go to the transfer portal on Monday, will not be joining them. Tuggle announced his intention to remain with the program on Twitter on Tuesday through his account.

Before joining Georgia football this fall, Tuggle, a four-star recruit in the class of 2024, received offers from Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Penn State, Ole Miss, and LSU, among others. Tuggle only appeared in seven games, making three catches for 34 yards. In a late-season victory over Tennessee, he did, however, notch two receptions for 25 yards. Fans celebrated Tuggle’s comeback on social media, anticipating that he would make a big breakthrough the following season:
I won’t lie, Nitro. I was saddened to see you going yesterday. I’m glad you changed your mind. You represent UGA’s future. Next season, our wide receiver core will be among the finest in the country, on par with Texas and OSU.
