The longtime DJ and turntablist, better known to millions of Slipknot fans as #0, has reportedly been dismissed from the band after almost three decades. But despite the explosive reports surrounding his alleged exit, the biggest question remains unanswered: why?
And that uncertainty has only made the story more intense.
Reports first emerged that Wilson had been permanently kicked out of Slipknot, sending shockwaves through the metal community. Wilson joined the Iowa heavy-metal giants in 1998, becoming one of the defining personalities of the band’s classic lineup before its 1999 self-titled breakthrough.
Yet, despite the significance of the reported departure, Slipknot has not released the kind of formal statement fans might normally expect when a major member leaves.

People magazine reported that Root’s reaction came after reports claimed Wilson had been kicked out following 28 years with the group. The publication also noted that neither Wilson nor Slipknot had officially commented on the allegations at the time.

At this point, fans should separate what has been reported from what Slipknot has officially confirmed.
What is being reported about Sid Wilson?
According to recent reports, Wilson’s alleged dismissal was connected to problems involving his behavior toward other members of the band.
Louder Sound, citing a TMZ report, reported that Wilson was allegedly removed because of ongoing tensions and claims that he had mistreated bandmates. The report suggested that the decision had been developing for some time and that Slipknot had intended to make its own announcement before the story surfaced publicly.
But there is still no public statement from Slipknot confirming those allegations.
That means claims about exactly what happened should be treated carefully.

Wilson’s reported Slipknot situation also arrives during a difficult period in his personal life.
He and Kelly Osbourne ended their relationship earlier in 2026 after previously becoming engaged. The pair share a young son, and Osbourne has recently made a series of emotional social-media posts criticizing Wilson and discussing accountability and personal matters. Neither those personal disputes nor the reports about Slipknot’s decision should automatically be treated as proof of a connection between the two situations.
Wilson has also experienced serious physical trauma in recent years.
In August 2024, he suffered significant burns after a fire-related explosion on his farm. He later described the accident and the injuries he sustained, including burns to his face and arms.
For someone who has spent decades performing behind Slipknot’s masks, costumes and intense stage production, it was another reminder that Wilson’s life had changed dramatically away from the stage.
Fans are demanding answers
The biggest frustration among Slipknot supporters isn’t necessarily that Wilson may be leaving.
