Coming from the band famous for its cryptic rituals and grim pageantry, the reveal could of course not be straightforward.
It started, as if we were in an eerily lit cathedral at the stroke of midnight full of candles and Gregorian chants. Soon afterward, Papa V replaced her in a darker, raven-black ritual garb — a far cry from the regal glad rags of his Impera years. In a voice barely above a whisper, as if he were a prophet, he announced, “Out of the ashes of kingdoms and empires, a chapel has been born… and here, in its shadows, the truth will be written.”
This dramatic announcement was preceded by a minute-long teaser video giving us a bone-chilling taste of what perhaps will be this album’s common thread.
