So sad: new Mexico lobos head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced to leave today after facing…
Sol-Jay Maiava-Peters, a former running back and quarterback for BYU, announced his commitment to UNM on social media on Sunday.
The commitment of Maiava-Peters was first announced by 24/7 Sports in late February.
He commented, “Had to hop around and slide thru to rebuild, Fortnite,” on an Instagram post.
Maiava-Peters led the BYU Cougars to a 24-23 victory over SMU in the New Mexico Bowl in December 2022 while still a freshman. In his only career start, the 6-foot, 200-pound dual-threat quarterback gained offensive MVP honors by completing 7 of 12 passes for 47 yards and rushing for 96 yards and one touchdown.
During spring practice in 2023, he was switched to running back; he departed the program soon after and missed the entire 2023 season. Maiava-Peters is anticipated to sign with the Lobos this summer. She will probably play a role in a quarterbacks room that includes Isaiah Chavez, D.C. Tabscott, Justin Holaday, and Devon Dampier.
Linebacker Kam Robinson made the announcement on social media on Sunday that he will be using the transfer site.
In a post on X, Robinson stated, “I am forever grateful for the experiences I had and all the brothers on this journey.” “The relationships I have formed will endure forever. Having said that, I will have three years of eligibility left when I access the transfer portal. I am grateful to New Mexico.
Robinson did not play for the Lobos in 2023 after joining from East Los Angeles College in the summer.
