Bayern Munich is looking into options to take Manuel Neuer’s 37-year tenure. After suffering a leg injury in January of this year, the team captain and veteran has been out of the Munich club for almost a year, which has forced the management to look for a replacement. According to Foot Mercato, Bayern Munich is reportedly contemplating Gregor Kobel, the Swiss goalkeeper for Borussia Dortmund.

According to the French newspaper, the Munich team’s management has already spoken with the player on several occasions. This agreement might run into trouble, though, as Kobel recently extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund to 2028. Furthermore, it’s thought that Dortmund would want €70 million for the player, which might not be acceptable to the prospective buyer. As a result, Bayern will have to speak with the club’s management directly to negotiate.

During Manuel Neuer’s injury layoff, Bayern Munich had already signed Jan Sommer, a Swiss goalkeeper, from Borussia Monchengladbach in the winter. Sven Ulreich is currently the starting goalkeeper for the German squad after the Swiss national team’s goalkeeper moved to Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.

Gregor Kobel, the starting goalkeeper for Borussia Dortmund, moved from Stuttgart in 2021 for a fee of €15 million.
