The North Carolina tar heel star QB Drake Maye announced his departure today…

Drake Maye, the former standout quarterback for the North Carolina Tar Heels,

has decided not to throw at this week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He will postpone the pre-draft procedure until the school’s pro day.

The probable number-five pick is still available to participate in the NFL Draft process in Indiana. In addition to doing interviews, he might do certain cognitive tests.

At the combine, Maye will also have formal interviews scheduled with ten teams.

All this does is highlight the kind of hype that will surround the 2024 NFL Draft’s most likely No. 2 quarterback prospect. Numerous teams are expressing interest. When the yearly event begins in late April, some won’t have much of a chance to land Maye without having to trade up higher into the first round.

Caleb Williams of USC is anticipated to be selected first by Chicago in the draft. The team may choose to acquire another quarterback later in the top 10 if it decides to trade down from that pick.

This puts Washington in a great position to acquire Maye should Adam Peters, the new general manager, choose that course of action. But with that choice, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, the current Heisman winner, needs to be taken into consideration.
